Five men were wounded in four separate shootings during a violent 20-minute period Saturday night on the South Side. Three of the shootings happened within a mile of each other.
The shootings started at 10:30 p.m. when two men were shot in the 4700 block of South Ada Street, said police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines, citing preliminary information.
Both men were taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in an unidentified condition, police said.
About 11 p.m., a man was shot in the 4400 block of South Marshfield Avenue, Gaines said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in “stable” condition.
Around the same time, a man was shot in the abdominal area four blocks west in the 4400 block of South Honore Street, police said. He was taken in “stable” condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Further south, a man was shot near South Laflin Avenue and West Marquette Road about 10:40 p.m., Gaines said. He was taken to Christ hospital in an unidentified condition.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating all the shootings, but nobody is in custody late Saturday.
