For Immediate Release: March 12, 2010 Contact: Rebecca Thomas (202) 223-7800 Bollinger Foundation Seeks Nominations for Scholarship Grants WASHINGTON, DC -- The Bollinger Foundation, a unique foundation created to provide financial assistance to families of economic development, community development, and public housing workers is seeking nominations for this year’s awards. The grants will be awarded in June. Specifically, assistance is available to families who have lost a parent or guardian where the deceased or surviving parent or guardian worked in the field of public housing, community development, or economic development. The Foundation welcomes nominations of eligible families. Please visit our website to make a nomination using our online nomination form. Nominations can also be mailed or faxed to Rebecca Thomas, The Bollinger Foundation, c/o IEDC, 734 15th St., NW, Suite 900, Washington, DC 20005, (202) 223-4745. The deadline for nominations is May 14, 2010. The Foundation’s main source of funding, the Bollinger Golf Tournament, will be held on Friday June 11th at 2:00 pm at the Andrew’s Air Force Base Golf Course. Sponsorship and participation in the tournament is open to organizations and individuals interested in the mission of the organization. Past major sponsors have included, but are not limited to: Credit Suisse; Branig Capital Markets; Fannie Mae; The Mortgage Bankers Association; The National Association of Realtors; Freddie Mac; Wells Fargo Mortgage; and the International Economic Development Council. The Bollinger Foundation is named in memory of Steve Bollinger, who was Assistant Secretary for Community Planning and Development at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development from 1981-1984. Steve Bollinger was a dedicated professional who passed away unexpectedly in 1984. To date, the Foundation has awarded 127 grants totaling almost $500,000. -###-
