JTED Grant Program
The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity has released the FY 2010 Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Job Training and Economic Development (JTED) Grant Program. Click here to learn more about the JTED program and to download the grant application. Proposals are due on March 1.

New Project to Assist Seven Low-income Communities in Chicago
The University of Illinois at Chicago Neighborhoods Initiative received a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Children and Families Compassion Capital Fund to help serve seven low-income community areas in the City of Chicago. ChiWest ResourceNet, a new targeted capacity building initiative, will be created to work closely with approximately 60 community-based and faith-oriented nonprofits in East and West Garfield Park, Humboldt Park, Near West Side, North and South Lawndale, and Pilsen. Shifting Gears

Shifting Gears Illinois will be hosting workshops entitled "Regional Workshops for Building Bridges to Success". Each workshop will focus on state policies that support bridges for adults and provide recommendations for leveraging multiple funding resources. Shriver Center Dialogue on Veteran Affairs
The Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law is hosting a dialogue entitled "Accessing Justice: Military Veterans, Servicemembers, and Their Families" on Thursday, February 26 from 8:15 - 10:00am at DLA Piper (203 N. LaSalle Street, Chicago). The dialogue will focus on the types of legal issues that United States military veterans, servicemembers, and their families face.
