Preckwinkle is the first woman to be elected as County Board President. The 63-year-old replaces Todd Stroger who served as head of the board since 2006. During her campaign, Preckwinkle vowed to end patronage hiring. She faces many challenges including an almost $487 million budget deficit. The former Chicago alderman is going to be sworn in at 10 a.m. during a special meeting of the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
